Huntington Police say 48 year old, Benjamin Adkins, cut off the ears of his four month old puppy all the way down to the cartilage. Dr. Ball says the dog is probably an American Pit-bull Terrier, and believes Adkins cut its ears in an effort to make it look like a full-blooded pit-bull, perhaps in an effort to fight the dog in Just cleaning out the ears was painful; Dr. Ball said. So we can just imagine what he went through when they were actually doing it. Officers found the puppy in Adkins back yard. The complaint statesthe puppys ears had been cut very low into the cartilage and was still bleeding.Police found a knife in Adkins pocket.
