Justice for Anya
We, the undersigned are petitioning against any more reductions that may result from Ty Ronald Delavale’s appeal (scheduled for 6 April 2009) against the sentence of 7.5 years imposed by Justice E M Heenan on 11 July 2008 in the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Anya Patrice Campbell, 24 years old, left her home on Friday 27 July 2007, happy and healthy. Five days later on 1 August 2007 her battered body was carried from Delavale’s Carine unit in a body bag. She had suffered multiple injuries including severe brain damage, extensive bruising around the neck, legs, torso, thighs, knees, toes, face along with chipped teeth, broken ribs and head injuries. The post-mortem report was that the cause of death could not be pin pointed and was therefore inconclusive. Drowning was accepted as the likely cause as there was water found in Anya’s lungs but because of technicalities Delavale could not be charged with murder although he admits to placing her unresponsive body into the bath after assaulting her. Anya lay dead in Delavale’s unit for up to 3 days. Justice for Anya did not prevail. Delevale’s sentence started at 15 years but was reduced by 7.5 years due to his pleading guilty and then the truth in sentencing law. He is now appealing this already insulting sentence. There is no justification for this. We are fighting for justice for Anya, her life is worth more than this. We need to put a stop to these people escaping justice and walking free without proper punishment.
