I really hope that he is able to come home to you guys and get what he needs and not such as harsh sentence. That just doesnt make sense. They sentence people like that bbut then the child molersters and stuff get only afew months or so. Good luck :)

If they would just offer more REHABILITATION help to those with addictions instead of keeping us in and out of the system to make money off us, it would make a lot of difference. Don't lock up the addicts for their disease but lock up the baby molesters and the rapist.

I am so very sad to see this online today. I was literally thinking about Chad and Ryan riffle. it's very disheartening to read about your hs friends being locked in a cage with no one that actually cares. drug addicts do not belong in prison

He is too young to give on. I went to school with him and this time that had been given is more than enough. He deserves have chance at a real life. sometimes takes us a little longer than others to realize what our actions can result in or how it can effect others.

If you ever needed to see the collateral damage of the war on drugs to make evident the futility of it, here it is. How many lives have to be destroyed and families torn apart before our hired help in Washington comes to terms with the fact that it is an unwinnable war? This guy, and so many others that are in prison, are non violent drug offenders. They are sick - not criminals. Whether their illness is brought on by poor choices is incidental. Whatever motivation they have to keep someone like Stephen incarcerated, whether it be to staff their inmate-industrial complex, or to "make examples" of these men and women, it doesn't even come close to making it right and does not justify the grievous loss of life that these people are suffering. It's easy to say that they brought it on themselves, but I've brought on plenty myself and I'm not sitting in prison - I chose different but equally destructive avenues. Again, not sitting in prison...why? What purpose is his incarceration serving, exactly? It's certainly not for his own good.
