Street vending is one of the most hardworking and essential profession which helps majority of the population survive in this expensive age. They must be awarded and facilitated with appreciation rather than the lathis.
We the people standby their rights. Because even the ones who are harassing them have at least once in lifetime depended on them to meet their basic survival hood.

I support the street vendors and completely disagree with the Police action. The street vendors need to live a respectable life. In the name of economic and urban development and environmental cleanliness if Police and the Government are going to destabilise their lives by throwing them off the streets, then the Police and the Government have to do some real street smart thinking here. Why can't the Government and the Police provide a 'safe haven' where these street vendors can parade their wares and earn a decent livelihood? Why can't this 'safe haven' be a permanent place? Why can't we have five or six such places in Bangalore where the street vendors can congregate and sell their goods everyday? Why can't the Police and the Government work together and craft similar or better ideas where these street vendors will retain not only their livelihood but also the regard and respect that they like every human being richly deserve? Maybe there be a private and public participation. I am all for economic and urban development and environmental cleanliness. I would like to see Bangalore as the cleanest city in India. But not at the cost of someone else's livelihood. I am sure when great minds get together something good can happen. Importantly, the lower level police force needs to be trained in life skills and respecting human dignity. I hope change happens.

The street vendors actually do bring a smile on our face rather than all the money minded supermarkets.I would really support the street vendors and also help them if I see any of they being disturbed by the police.

I condemn the action of police or any such authorities who harass the street vendors, trying to evict them and take away their right to live a respectful life. The fundamental duty of police department is to protect the life, not taking it away. Shame on your department for such acts.
We need our street vendors . They are not problem for us . They are one among us . Please don't take away their living .

Street vendors have the right to earn a living plying their trade as per the Supreme court. What really needs to be regulated and controlled more in Bangalore are the number of yellow board passenger vehicles and private cars on the roads, especially when carrying only a single passenger.

They also make a valuable difference to the lives of citizens by ensuring safety on the streets and providing easy and more personalized access to food and other services. My childhood days are that much more memorable with the friendships made with these humble fellow citizens...
