My English Bull Terrier girl Peppa was involved in an incident in October 2015 whereby she escaped her yard overnight and unfortunately caused serious injury to two cats resulting in death. Details are unclear, however we were told one of the cats was apparently in a secure enclosure, but how secure we are unsure of (we were also informed that it was hard to work out where the dog 'got in'). The other cat was roaming free on private property. Regardless, we are absolutely heartbroken for the families involved and have done and will continue to do everything we can to assist.

Peppa is a kind natured, friendly and very much loved family pet and has never shown signs of aggression nor dangerous behaviour, and has in fact been raised from a puppy with three cats of our own whom she adores. Peppa is fantastic around all animals, big or small, and when she is around people she just wants to play and cuddle - aggression has never shone through in her nature! I cannot express enough how much this unfortunate one-off event is extremely out of character for my baby girl, and we have gone above and beyond as a family to assist in any way possible and are taking extreme measures in ensuring that something of this nature never occurs again. We have been extremely cooperative with both the owner/s and Council, however the Council are now trying to declare my girl as dangerous, which will mean she is robbed of her rights as a dog for an isolated incident. She will be muzzled when walked, forced to wear a 'dangerous' dog collar which means people will avoid her when there is no need (this absolutely breaks my heart), signage around our property stating there is a 'dangerous' dog onsite, and have to be virtually caged on a concrete floor with 6ft walls and a roof at all other times. This means Peppa will be unable to socialise freely with other dogs which is something she absolutely loves. This is no way of life. Peppa is still a puppy in our eyes at just three years old and deserves a second chance to prove that she is a beautiful, kind and loving dog. I can assure you that if you knew Peppa, you would love her just as I do. She has a heart of gold and a hilarious character to go with it. Please sign this petition if you agree that this punishment is too harsh. Thank you.
