I speak as an acclaimed man of Islam and believe that the wrong doing to my brother Moulana Ouwais and his community is disgraceful and disgusting. Depriving the young generation of the community a inspirational Moulana should not be acceptable and he should be reinstated immediately.

So many are so angry, an apology should be given to the moulana and he be reinstated. I hope the commitee come to their senses and sort this out ASAP!

The respected Maulana should be reinstated. You can see from this petition how strongly people feel about this and how important he is to this community.

Has some tried to ask the other side of story, or just jumping on the wagon without a clue, I'm not saying who's right or wrong but to every story there are 2 sides, and no one should jump to conclusions without investigating. And as far as I see it's not a sacking it's just the contract has expired and it has not been renewed.

This is wrong on all levels. Having such a person like moulana helping the community bringing youth into the masjid, wanting the best for our community and children. To get rid of him is totally wrong on all level. Consistency is key to helping the community and being a pillar of our mosque.

An English speaking imam is a must in this day and age and Maulana Ouwais Data should be reinstated.

It will be VERY upsetting if this imam is not reinstated. The community will keep him in our duas insha' allah. A simple question is why is it that THIS imam has to be the one to go? Who will the English speaking population of the community learn their knowledge from? Are they to get their knowledge from dubious sources? Sheikh Google perhaps...? A sad time indeed. May Allah help us.

I would like to say that I am very disappointed with the decision to remove Sheikh Ouwais. It is very unsettling for the community as a whole, going from one imam to another so often. This imam being born and bred here - as he himself said - knows the community and how to reform it. This maulana is making the effort to reform the community with his modern and refreshing ideas e.g. His bayaan's for Women; his work with the youth. We say that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, yet by removing this Sheikh what chance do they stand? They cannot receive the necessary education To be good citizens and good muslims without a good advisor like Sheikh. What use is it living in a multicultural community without an imam who reaches out to the english speaking people? The youth these days speak english predominantly, along with people of some other cultures. Who will they turn to for guidance and sound advice? Are we to leave these people to their own devices because of "financial constraints." As a sister, the Sheikh has helped us with his heartfelt english speeches; I believe his passion for deen is essential in this current time of great fitan and his removal can never be a good thing for the community.

a brilliant bright young imam with lots of love for his work. How sad to hear about the latest news. how unfortunate that the youth of our locality will have to say goodbye to the imam who keeps them together. I pray that Allah ta'ala accept molana for his deen and grants us all hidayah insha Allah. aameen us

Salaams to all I'm out of the country at the moment and I heared the message and I am very disappointed to hear the news regarding Moulana ouwais when we employed him I was so greatful to hear to employ someone from our community. At the time I was thankful towards the commitee to take this decision to employ him but now it is shameful to hear suddenly what has happened, I am forwarding my opinion to the committee as I have worked with the commitee for the good and bad time and I enjoyed it deeply from my heart. I think that this decision should be taken by a paper ballot vote with the local community only then will it be fair as we desperately need English speaking imams (no hard feelings) may Allah guide us all on the right path so we can make a good decision Jazakallah.
