Marcus and I grew up together I was like the smallest person on the court, but he knew I could play basketball he would always pick me to be on his team. He took me under his wing and gave me guidance and insight on life from his perspective because of him and his words of encouragement I am where I am because of him. I made some bad choices and was hanging around the wrong crowd wasting the potential the Lord had blessed me with. Marcus never judge me or passed judgment on me all he said was LJ that is my nickname given to me by my Aunt Sally and my closet peers call me that. You have so much to give to the world and young people why do you limit yourself. It is a world out there beyond Coke Oven and Frisco, and you can always come back and reach out to the youth and be a inspiration to them and build your community up through you. So I short my circle got married and joined the Navy where I have served honorable for 14 years I am a BoatswainmateFirst Class E-6 and acting as LCPO leading Chief Petty Officer I have a beautiful wife and three handsome boys that can be proud of the man I became because Marcus always believed in me that is the type of person. Marcus was when he was talking to me about my potential never once did he cuss at me or raise his voice just with the same tone with that beautiful smile and say LJ I just want you to succeed and make your parents proud. When I got the news he died it broke my heart I still cry I just did a eight month deployment, and it was many nights I cried because he is not here in the physical to see me doing well and I am not able to share this with him. I use his story to inspire my sailors and to keep me humble because I know that is what he would want me to do and give God the glory first and formost. Sir or Ma'am I cannot imagine the pain his Mother and Father and brother and sister have experience because I still feel the pain like it was yesterday it is so real, but I keep pushing because that is what Marcus would wa

Regardless of the time he's spent behind bars, he will do something that Marcus never will... Go home one day...

Marcus was loved dearly by family and friends! His life shouldn't have been taken so early.
