In the summer of 2014 we discovered that three of the trees in our (residntial) office yard were infested with the Ash Boer beetle. One was dead, and the others will soon follow. So, what can you do with a dead tree besides, cut it down?

My Wife and I had recently been in Colorado, where you can see beautiful tree carvings everywhere. So, I decided that a Carving of "Lady Justice " similar to a statue I bought for my wife (Who founded and owns a Law Firm specializing in Civil Rights) would be a wonderful gift.

So, we found an incredibly skilled tree carving artist and contracted him for the job.

The tree was transformed into a beautiful Lady Justice outside, and, on the property of Kurtz Law Offices Ltd. and Kurtz Investments Ltd. at 32 Blaine St. in Hinsdale, Illinois.

We have received countless compliments and comments on how beautiful our Lady is.

Unfortunately, Not everyone sees beauty and art the same way.

Two of our neighbors complained to the Village of Hinsdale about the artwork.

Sure, the chainsaw was a bit noisy, But, it wasn't the noise they had a problem with. It was the artwork, one neighbor claims it's "against the code." One neighbor even called the police, and the police officer could find no reason to make the carver/artist stop. Also, at one point, the Village code enforcement person stopped by and said the artwork "is very pretty."

Well, a week or so later, we were told by the Village that the artwork was a "sign" for the Law Office, and, therefore against code, and it would have to be removed.

When we called the Village planner to ask about why the Village was taking this position? We were told that an "influential" neighbor had complained.

In the meantime while all this was going on, I suffered an incident
