I have fully supported the West Hawaii community and Kona Community Hospital for years. Unfortunately, for me, a lot of these allegations being made appear to be unsubstantiated, not well supported and actually quite illogical when held up to any scrutiny. With this amount of salacious claims and information, I need more proof than some random anonymous comments. My money is on this petition being derived from some bitter present, past and/or currently on leave individuals that are trying to deflect blame and focus for their own wrong doings and tyranny. It's unfortunate because no matter how this plays out, it will only hurt the hospital and the community that they're claiming to support.

You sound like the former CEO trying to start trouble by putting out unsubstantiated allegations and accusations. Cite your sources if you know all of this information. You said a whole lot but did not post how you know all of this to be true. Post your evidence. You want the public's help then tell us you source

Where is your proof that the CEO or any other Senior Leader was paid extra money? You stated that there have been kickbacks but did not provide evidence. As a matter of fact a state run facility cannot get into a contract with any entity without having permission from HHSC. The hospital can only write contracts under a certain threshold.
More importantly you failed to mention how you know about the board knowing about sexual harassment of a member without investigating. Where is your proof unless you are a person on the inside giving a lot of information the public is not privy to; but you yourself was privy to, but did nothing. If you know about all of these misdeeds why have you not turned this information over to the state? Reveal your vested interest in this instead of making unsubstantiated accusations while writing anonymously

As if the other issues aren’t enough, what about:
- The failing Ali’i Health Center that is LOSING $100’s of thousands annually that board members and the financial managers don’t want people to know about, probably because the head manager (who got a raise right as the former CEO was leaving in 2019) was the secretary to the former/acting CEO — cronyism before competency is what matters when positions are given out and also who gets paid lot of money, just like mafia and Washington politics,
- The huge bonuses the acting/former CEO has gotten last year and this year already (over $350K) approved by the chairman of the board. Do other HHSC regions give these large bonuses? — this should be investigated
- The possible financial benefits or contract kickbacks the voluntary board members might be getting — not as payment but possible financial contributions to their community projects, foundations or non-profit organizations,
- A board member that recently resigned who allegedly has a history of sexual harassment - the board did nothing about the behavior while on the board
- and the board that doesn’t have any interest in looking deeper into concerns than what their told by the chairman and CEO.
These people DO NOT CARE about our community. The leaders are deceptive and tell the employees to believe what they say, especially that the leader salaries are all they get paid when in reality they get paid a LOT more when you look at the leaders total compensation instead of just salary. The board of directors don’t want to look any deeper and ask questions and hold each other accountable. If ONLY it would be about what can make the hospitals at Kona and Kohala better and safer to care for the patients and also support the staff that care for patients as opposed to the main leaders filling their own pockets. IT’S GOT TO STOP! Another board meeting is happening this Wednesday and maybe these questions should be asked at the meeting during the open public question ses

The subsequent issues warrant a full investigation and answers to the following questions:
1. The West Hawaii Board chair walked the new CEO out of the hospital at the end of February following dubious allegations made by members of the KCH Senior Leadership Team. What were the allegations that warranted an immediate exit and non-return to the job as CEO?
2. Is it true that the investigation initiated by the KCH Senior Leadership Team into the new CEO’s conduct yielded no substantiated findings? Why then was the new CEO not reinstated but is now no longer employed with KCH and HHSC?
3. The former (now acting) CEO allegedly received a full salary PLUS a bonus equivalent to the full salary each month for the last 6 months of 2019, thus doubling the monthly rate of pay. Even though the salary is posted on a state website, it doesn't show the "total compensation." What was the CEO's total compensation? What about the "total compensation" of all senior leaders at KCH versus their posted "salary?"
4. The former (now acting) CEO and WHR board chair agreed that the CEO would be paid a full salary plus bonuses (i.e., total compensation) for an additional 2 years beyond the CEO’s time as CEO, thus brining the total tenure to 10 years of employment and qualifying for full pension and benefits. Knowing that the pension would be paid out based on the "High 3" formula (i.e., all employee’s annual pensions are calculated on the average of the three highest years of pay while working in HHSC), why should KCH pay 2 CEO salaries and bonuses which seems to be the means to increase pay for a higher monthly pension while in retirement?
5. West Hawaii Regional (WHR) board members and senior leaders openly stated in board meetings that a primary reason for partnering with Queens was to leave the state system and abandon the civil service contracts that protect and benefit KCH employees. Why are members of the WHR Board of Directors against the state employee unions?
