Why should we come at 6:55 and if not serve the consequences, yet we're not let out at the time we are supposed too!!

As a mother I am very proud that young people are able to express themselves about something that is taking away their dreams & apparently their lives. Keep supporting each other, you guys are the future, MAKE A CHANGE!

As a Macarthur highschool student, I beleive their is enough teachers and adminstrators to cover a section or more of aldine mail rt where students cross to attend school. I walk to school myself in the mornings. It is incredibly dark and the traffic is out of control. I do get angry with the staff at Macarthur for not allowing an excuse. If the staff wants us there on time , they should at leat make an attemtp to stop some traffic for students to cross over. I understand one cop can not do so. There should be more changes. The apartments where Jose Torres lived is where i'm located in the mornings. My cousins and I know We had to walk all the way to the cross walks, but if you look at the distance it is ridicoulous. It was a hard task during rainy mornings, so once in a while, we would cross where the accident occoured this morning so we could avoid the long walk. I seriously beleive there should be a change in this. This accident could have been prevented if our staff were easy on the late arrivals (or atleat move the bell to 7:15 like last year when the traffic is not so harsh). Some of my friends are rushed to school by parents to arrive at work. The school needs to understand this. It's serioulsy absurd. I beleive something should be done.

They should take off this rule I've never been late but that's because I have to run to get to school ! Now that this happened I don't think I'll make it ok time anymore

I agree with this petition! I don't think it's right to feel the rush every single morning and question ourselves if we're going to make it to school on time or if we're going to have to stay two hours extra to make up that 1 minute, 5 minutes, or to even exaggerate 10 minutes! THIS COME LATE STAY LATE POLICY SHOULD BE BANNED!!! Are we really going to wait until another incident like this happens again in order to make a change ?!?

What happened to Jose was extremely unfair, I didn't know Jose personally but what I do know is that no one deserves to have their life taken away like that all because of parents and students rushing to get to school in order to not receive consequences.
