- March 2020, in Bow, Washington, Skagit County, a 17 year old Hispanic boy was lured to the home of an 18 year old white boy who pulled a shotgun on him, stole his money, stole his shoes and brutally beat the 17 year old while he was having seizures on the ground from the damage done to his skull, the white boy then wrote a degrading racial slur on the 17 year old's forehead, all while posting it live and proudly on SnapChat. The Skagit County Prosector by the name of Richard Weirich who is handling the case refuses to add the hate crime enhancement. My name is Cassandra, and I refuse to eat until the hate crime enhancement is added to Trevor McCabe's charges. As of today, July 12th, I have not eaten in 22 days. This is my personal demonstration and sacrifice in attempt to change the injustices shown to the minorities and youth of Skagit County by their judicial system. Please join me in this plea.

I honestly never expected this much movement when I first started this because it felt like screaming into a void but now everything just feels so heavy and real. My physical capacity is what it is but knowing people are actually paying attention to what happened to Joel is the only thing keeping me going right now. It is just wild to see how many people care about justice in Skagit County even when the system tries to look the other way.

This crime fits every definition of a hate crime. How can we make this community and this world a better place if you refuse to protect CHILDREN!?
If there are racial slurs. It is a hate crime. Give this 17 year old the justice he deserves and the 18 more jail time.
This is a hate crime, Skagit Co Prosecutor Weyrich. Prosecute it as such. It's your job.
I cant see this as anything BUT a hate crime and it needs to be added onto the charges. I support you.
This is an blatant "travesty of justice, and a recognizable "hate" crime. Confucius says:"If names are not correct, language is not in accordance with the truth of things. If language is not in accordance with the truth of things, affairs cannot be conducted successfully. When affairs cannot be conducted successfully, propriety will not flourish. When propriety does not flourish, punishments will not be properly meted out. When punishments are not properly meted out, the people will not know how to conduct themselves."

This is a palling an indescribable. A teen who did this needs to be punished severely that kind of cruelty cannot go unpunished.
