Joe is a good guy just trying to get to work so he can feed his family and pay the bills he does not deserve a 10 year sentence because another person can't hold their tongue.

Shocking that Joe got 10 years for protecting himself. So should we just let others beat us? As it seems, if I was to defend myself I would end up doing time (10 years)

I think this sentence is a bit of a hefty punishment to have been given. Joe has very recently become a father for the 2nd time! When I last spoke to joe he was telling me about how much he wanted to sort his life out after again very recently burying his mum after a a long battle with cancer. I understand fully that he must be punished for his crime as does he, however it does seem a big sentence for what should be considered a petty fight with today's knife and gun crime society the way it is.
