Statement from Joshua, Friend of Jax Gratton I had the honour of calling Jax my friend. She was the kind of person who showed up for others — who chose love, advocacy, and generosity. Her death shattered those who loved her. Jax was not a case number. She was a brilliant, loving human being. She deserves justice. Her family deserves dignity. And our community deserves accountability. I join with others to demand an independent oversight task force made up of trans voices, advocates, legal experts, and those with experience supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ victims — because this investigation must be trans competent, trauma-informed, transparent, and thorough. We will not allow Jax to be forgotten. We will not let this be swept aside. Justice for Jax is justice for all of us. #JusticeForJax #TransLivesMatter

As a transgender woman, Jax is likely to be impacted by prejudice, bias, and transphobia. There have already been many issues with accountability and transparency. Please create an oversight task force to ensure that Jax's investigation is thorough, trauma informed, and trans competent.

Hello my name is Angela and I live in Denver, CO. I am calling to the support of the family of Jax Gratton in thir call for an Oversight Taskforce to monitor her death investigation. As a transgender woam, Jax is likely to be impacted by prejudice, bias and transphobia. There have been many issues with transparency and accountability. Jax was a light in my community and to see it snuffed out so carelessly because of her identiy is disgusting. The police departments in this city have a rampant history of opression and negligence. This is a long line and list of people who were not deemed worthy to actually get the justice and courtesy they deserve in death. I am calling on the city to make a human decision to care about their people for one. Please create a taskforce to investigate the oversight of Jax's investigation. This needs to be stopped too many people are being underserved because of prejudice. Now is your time to actually "Protect and serve," like you are supposed to.

Jax and hundreds others are losing their lives due to anti-trans climates and rhetoric from the top down in this country. The time is now to demand justice from the bottom up to counter and expose these hateful policies that create conditions where this can happen to Jax and others
