rats are sociable creatures, and keeping one alone is akin to solitary confinement. it's bad enough her friend was killed, she does not need punishment, she needs love and company

A rat should never be kept alone, they are sociable group animals. To purposefully keep them on their own is cruel and causes unnecessary distress and unhappiness. It can lead to psychological damage such as over grooming or a change in personality. It is completely unreasonable of the college to not release this animal to rescue, if they cannot fund the welfare of their animals, they should be handed over to somebody who can.

Rats need companionship and I find it selfish and plain pointless to put such a superficial reason above a sentient creatures' emotional wellbeing. Please let this rat be rehomed to live the rest of her life happy, with the company of her own species that she needs!

I can't believe that a place of learning can be so ignorant. Please allow Daisy to be rehomed where she can be cared for properly. Surely she could be brought back to the college for lessons if needed?
