This petition was created to seek Justice for Harley - a sweet pitbull who was Unlawfully shot & killed in her own yard while wearing an invisible fence shock collar. Local police were called due to the dog minimally biting a teen kid that had entered the dogs yard, without permission, causing only a superficial abrasion. Harley was protecting her property, and the teen was trespassing. Cops showed up to the property, without the owner present, went onto the dogs property and shot the dog in the face, claiming that they were scared for their life, but as an eyewitness to the horrific event, the dog wasn't even charging the police. It was in her own yard and the police were approaching the dog aggressively with a gun drawn. It was an unjust, unlawful and irresponsible way to handle the situation by a police officer that is supposed to be professional. It seems as if Gun Barrel City Police believe they can do anything they want and get away with it. There is said to be corruption and crookedness within this department amongst the Gun Barrel City Community, let alone shooting peoples dogs in their own yard for a dog doing what a dog does. Protect. Police should've never went onto the dogs property without the owner present, let alone approach the dog with a gun drawn expecting it not to protect its own property. Totally unprofessional & poorly trained! The officer who shot Harley should be held accountable for his irresponsible and irreversible actions. This was a family dog, a sweet dog. A dog that has interacted positively with many children, not to mention she is restricted to her own yard with a Large Sign that says,"Beware of Dog," a sign that GBC Police encouraged the owner to post. Just despicable. We want Justice. We need help. From the Mayor, The Chief of Police, Mews Station or whatever it takes to have Justice for this poor sweet little dog that was executed in its own yard.
