We , Muslim Americans would like to state the following for your kind consideration in regards to Dr Tariq Ramadan’s detainment.

C ‘est avec beaucoup de peine et de soucis que nous “les Musulmans aux États Unis d’Amerique” avons décidé de vous envoyer cette pétition pour attirer votre attention sur le cas tragique et touchant du Dr. Tariq Ramadan .

It is with immense agony that we have learnt the accusations brought against Professor, Theologian, writer Dr. Tariq Ramadan. We in USA because of the excellent relations between our countries were able to receive Dr Ramadan on several occasions to enlighten us with his dynamic and relevant approach to the role of Islam in the west. His vision embraces a harmonious environment between Islam and the west. Wherever he has spoken he has caught the deep and undivided attention of Muslims as well as people of other faith.

We are hereby asking that the French authorities see to it that Dr Tariq Ramadan be treated with utmost respect and care and not like a hard core criminal while awaiting trial. Our common Islamic, Christian, French and American values call upon us to consider Dr Tariq Ramadan innocent until proven guilty. We have come to know that Dr. Tariq Ramadan’s health is below optimal. We need to be reassured that he is given all necessary medical attention and treatment while he is awaiting trial. It is also our concern that due to unwarranted publicity of the case Dr. Tariq Ramadan may not receive a fair trial and we therefore explicitly and emphatically request that all necessary steps are taken by the French authorities for Dr. Tariq Ramadan to receive a fair, unbiased trial as is defined by the French Judiciary system.
