Dear Fr. David Roman, Bishop Frank Caggiano, Deacon Gerald Lambert, Parish Council Members,

We, the undersigned parishioners of St. Thomas Aquinas, Fairfield, CT, are writing with profound outrage and deep distress regarding the recent and unjust dismissal of our cherished Music Director, David Harris. This decision has not only shocked us but has also severely impacted our sense of community and worship.

David has been a pillar of our parish for 21 years, dedicating his extraordinary musical talents and unwavering commitment to our spiritual life. His contributions have enriched our Masses, funerals, and other services with unmatched grace and beauty. David’s music has been a beacon of hope and solace, creating an environment of reverence and unity that is the very heart of our parish community.

It is with a sense of grave injustice that we view the recent decision to terminate David’s employment. His exceptional service, marked by professionalism, passion, and an unselfish devotion to his role, has touched the lives of countless parishioners. The overwhelming sentiment among the community is one of disbelief and anger at the disregard shown for his immeasurable contributions.

We firmly believe that this decision does not reflect the values of fairness, respect, and gratitude that are the foundation of our parish. We call upon you to urgently address this issue and reconsider the decision to ensure that justice and integrity are upheld.

We respectfully request the following actions:

1. Reassessment of the Termination: We urge a comprehensive and transparent review of the circumstances surrounding David’s dismissal, ensuring that the decision aligns with our parish’s values and principles of fairness.

2. Open Dialogue with Parishioners: We seek a meeting with the parish community to openly discuss this issue, giving parishioners the opportunity to express their concerns and work towards a resolution that recognizes David’s valuable contributions.

3. Reinstatement of David as Music Director: In light of David’s exceptional service and the significant positive impact he has had on our worship experience, we strongly advocate for his prompt reinstatement as Music Director.

We stand united with our brother, David Harris whom we embrace as an integral member of the body. We trust that you will act swiftly to address this grave injustice and restore the harmony and integrity that our parish so deeply needs.
