As you may know, in 1991 John Terrance Porter was sentenced to Life in Prison with no eligibility for parole (for 25 years) for the murder of Roland (Slinger) Slingerland of Oshawa, Ontario. 

Previous to the murder, John Terrance Porter served 4 years in prison for the stabbing assault of his own father. 

His history also includes: 

• possession of a narcotic 
  
• assault (attacked two orderlies while in residence at a psychiatric hospital) 
  
• escape from a medical hospital 
  
• forcible confinement 
  
• escaping lawful custody 
  

In January 2012, John Terrance Porter was granted escorted temporary absences and will soon be eligible for: 

• unescorted absences 
  
• day parole 
  
• full parole and 
  
• a judicial review to have his sentence reduced 
  

We believe any community he may be released into will be at risk and strongly feel that John Terrance Porter should not be eligible for any parole.
