This animal was in a Preserve that has permits to keep these animals. Why is it ok for FWC to break the law and take the life of this beautiful baby? If the officer knows ANYTHING about wolves, they are going to run from people, not go to them. Lying to the owner was NOT OK either. This was not their fault or the animals fault that it got out. I can tell you that that animal was terrified and would have kept hidden, not gone looking for children to eat as the fairy tale would have one believe. FWC needs to be held accountable for what they did because it was wrong.

This should never have happened. As usual law enforcement of all types are crazily trigger happy, Doesn't matter if it's a puppy, kitten, dog or a wolf, they just don't seem to care. People responsible should be fired and the agency should be fined.

I am so outraged and saddened at the same time that words are inadequate to describe my feelings. I will say that I hope all from the FWC that are responsible for the MURDER of Chaco are permanently fired and banned from any hopes of rehiring!!

A rare British Columbian wolf from the Seacrest Wolf Preserve, Inc. located near Chipley, Florida, was willfully and unlawfully executed by the local Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) located at 3911 Highway 2321, Panama City, Florida, working in cooperation with the Pensacola, Florida, FWC branch and other regional FWC agencies.. Let's tell them that is not okay.

Over the past 13 years I have personally interacted with the wolves at Seacrest, as have hundreds of my students. Seacrest is a safe place for wolves and humans who want to interact with wolves. Their mission is "Preservation through Education." The intentional acts of the FWC that prevented Chaco's owners from humanely capturing him are shocking. They used deception to orchestrate his execution. Most citizens believe that FWC officers are concerned about the welfare of all animals and would opt to save a life if possible. The death of Chaco has taught us that this is not the case.
