Cruelty to animals is defined as: “No person may treat any animal, whether belonging to the person or another, in a cruel manner.” Intentional or negligent violation is a Class A Misdemeanor punishable with a fine up to $10,000 and/or imprisonment up to 6 months. Intentional violation that results in the mutilation, disfigurement or death of an animal is a Class E Felony punishable with a fine up to $10,000 and/or imprisonment up to 2 years.

The video clearly shows the dog was no where close to them when it came out of the house. It turned to go back in and was shot several times. Horrible. There is no excuse for this happening. The shooter needs to go to jail and the dept should be in trouble for trying to spin the story there way when the video doesn't lie. They were 100% wrong. Doesn't bring back poor Angel but this dog needs justice

This is the third dog shot by officer in Racine ... the second to be killed. An outside investigation would be the right thing to do.

If this were a person there would be no question in punishment. So why are we questioning punishment on any other living creature?

Imagine what is was like for decades before citizens had video cameras handy. Imagine what it was like for minorities for decades. The constant stream of proof of police departments across North America unethical behaviour is disgusting and these officers need to be held accountable for their actions. By this I do not mean suspended with pay as would likely be the most severe reprimand they would receive.

That was TOTALLY uncalled for. This little dog had already turned to go back towards the house. They could have at least warned the owner to call the dog back in or it would be shot. Total gun happy jerks!
