The unprovoked violent sucker punch, caught on a video that went viral, which injured Ms. Aida Guzman from Chester, Pennsylvania, administered by Police Lieutenant Jonathan D. Josey, 2nd, during her attendance at an after Philadelphia Puerto Rican Parade neighborhood celebration in the heart of Philadelphia’s Puerto Rican community, is of special and urgent concern to the signers of this petition. . Police Officers should be held to a higher standard of proper conduct. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey did the right thing in firing Lt. Josey and Mayor Michael Nutter apology to Ms. Guzman for Lt. Josey’s despicable actions are applauded. We, the undersigned signers of this petition, believe that appropriate action should be taken against those, sworn to serve and protect the public, who engage in behavior unbecoming a law enforcement professional. By way of this petition, we demand that your office criminally prosecute Lt. Josey to the fullest extent of the law to discourage other law enforcement personnel from this type of behavior within the ranks of our fine police department. A fair trial will provide a transparent look at the evidence surrounding Ms. Guzman’s claim of Lt. Josey’s misconduct. Criminal charges against Lt. Josey must be lodged to protect and repair the image of Philadelphia in light of his actions.
