Park Inn Home for adults was housing my elderly uncle Dirk from 2009-2019.

Only July 6, 2019, I received a phone call from a Washington DC Missing person detective, Who notified me that my uncle was missing from the nursing home.

The detective explained to me that my uncle wandered off from the nursing home ended up in Maryland in May 2019 and June 11, 2019 was found laying on the floor in Washington DC by two patrol officers.

The entire summer I have put all of my efforts into finding my uncle. I contacted Park Inn home for adults on several occasions to speak with the director Mrs. Bernstein.

The two times that she accepted my call, she told me that my uncle received his SSI allowance and left the facility. She also communicated to me that prior to him leaving he told his case manager he wanted to go look for my grandparents.

This did not seem far-fetched because whenever my grandparents birthdays come up my uncle did have a habit of wandering off and ending up at the old house in Brooklyn or in High Point North Carolina.

This did not seem far-fetched because when ever my grandparents birthdays, my uncle did have a habit of wandering off and ending up at the old house in Brooklyn or in High Point North Carolina, where my Family owns several houses.

The other times that I did not speak with her, she was being evasive and not returning my phone calls. However I did speak to her assistant, Karen who also seemed to corroborate with Mrs. Bernstein and what was conveyed to me.

The nursing home refused to contact the detectives in Washington DC and also refuse to contact the nonprofit who is also helping to locate my uncle.

I called a week during the week of Christmas (December 2019) because Henderson Long, from DC Missing Voices told me that Mrs. Berstein still has not contacted him, nor the detective on my uncles case. I called on 3 way and Henderson Long, along with Karen and myself chatted. Karen, as always had an excuse and a reason for Mrs. Berstein not calling me.

On December 31, 2019 I received a phone call from someone who reported to me that this entire time the nursing home has been lying to me.

It was conveyed to me on New Year’s eve that the nursing home took my uncle across state lines to Washington DC and a banded him. They tried to cover things up by Hiring a private detective for $600.

However, they could not afford to pay the private detective any more money. The private detective told the people who are assisting me in finding my uncle, the actual truth about what actually happened.

Immediately following this information, I left the state of New Jersey where I reside and went to far Rockaway Queens. I called the police immediately because I wanted to have this nursing home investigated for lying to me and potentially committing fraud since my uncle receives SSI and the nursing home is his payee.

After waiting 90 minutes to patrol officers arrived and I conveyed to them what I just learned about the nursing home. Both of the responding officers Told me they believe everything I say to be true because this particular facility continually shuttles elderly people outside of the area and they have no clue as to where they are going.

The officers also told me that this particular nursing home within the area has the most complaints and issues within the community. The officers express their concerns of being unhappy with this particular facility and agreed with me that it needs to be shut down.

I asked the officers to accompany me inside the facility so that I could communicate with the staff members so that they could see my face and know that my uncle has someone who loves and cares about his safety and well-being. Upon my arrival I met with the front desk evening person who called Mrs. Bernstein on the phone.

Once Mrs. Bernstein was on the phone, the front desk staff person communicated that the police were called for Dirk Graves, my uncle.

Mrs. Bernstein demanded to speak to the police officer. The police officer told Mrs. Bernstein you need to be talking to dirt graves relative she has questions you need to give her answers and she is talking to the wrong person.

Once the police officer was finish talking to Mrs. Bernstein Mrs. Bernstein requested to talk to the front desk staff. I demanded to speak with Mrs. Bernstein about my uncle.

The first thing out of her mouth was my uncle has been missing for over one year. That was the most inappropriate, heartless, agree just statement but anyone can make about a missing person who has people who love them.

I told Mrs. Bernstein that she has been Lying to me, being evasive, and refused to talk to Det. and other people within a community who are trying to assist me and locating my uncle.

I demanded to have answers from her. Instead of cooperating with me Mrs. Bernstein told me that if I’m nice maybe she will give me answers. I told her that since she wanted to be evasive with the police and not return my phone calls that she can talk to the FBI since she’s shuttle bus my uncle across state lying to me, being evasive, and refuse to talk to the detective and other people within a community who are trying to assist me in locating my uncle.

This is no way to treat anyone. This facility looks like a crack house with running water and electricity. It is filthy it is dilapidated and it has a lot of people who appeared to be in recovery and or are currently using illicit drugs.

I am asking you to please sign this petition so that the New York State Department of health can do what they need to do to do and a thorough investigation and shut down this facility. This situation As horrible as it is I am certain that this is not the first time they have did this this is probably the first time that they’ve been held accountable for their actions.

Join me this DC missing voices and Metropolitan Police Department and Washington DC and requesting and demanding that New York State shut down this facility so that this does not happen to anyone again.

Also this position is also to have the Social Security administration do a thorough investigation to determine whether or not the people who are currently receiving benefits are actually physically living there and the facility is not receiving payments for people who are either deceased, missing or are no longer in the facility.

Thank you so much for your signature it means a lot to me and my uncle.
