Decklan is a 9 year old special needs child who requires a lot of attention. In August of 2016 his father, who was under the influence of drugs, strangled him. Decklan has had a lot of emotional damage including anger and ptsd, that even resulted in him being kicked out of school. He still sees a therapist weekly for the trauma he has endured. As of January 16, 2018, the court only wants to give his father 12 months of probation, anger management classes, and a $1 fine. We are hoping to be able to open the judges eyes to see that Decklan deserves justice for what his father has put him through. Probabation is not enough for child abuse. We hope that you will see that too and sign this petition for Decklan.

The weight of this situation is exhausting but seeing this many people acknowledge the injustice Decklan faced gives me the stamina to keep moving forward. We are fighting an uphill battle against a system that wants to look away. I am not stopping until the court recognizes the harm caused to this child.

I am so sad to read this. My son was in 2nd grade with Decklan and I remember going on a field trip to the zoo with the class. Decklan was so bright, happy and a joy to be around! Decklan definitely deserves justice! I'll be praying for him and his family. God bless you all!
I coached this little boy in kindergarten, he’s such a loving and caring little boy. His father doesn’t deserve this little boy. He deserves better. He will always hold a special place in my heart
Why can't the judicial system do something about this in stead of just slapping the back of there hands. Kid's can't take on a grown up. You would think other grown ups would do something about this but it's always the something they won't help the child. Dear Lord open there eyes to what needs to be done. Amen. My grandson deserves justice for what he has been through. He has enough to deal with being special needs and I'm sick of seeing his father get in trouble for many things with the law and just get a slap on the hand. He needs to learn a lesson. If this was anyone else they would lock them up. Please give Decklan justice.

I have met Decklan....he's a very sweet boy. And it's very sad and hurtful at the same time that the court system is just gonna slap his father on the hand and say don't do it again. Now this experience has scared this child for a very long time. I pray for Decklan and his mom. Things will get better. Praying for you guys.
