Just Say NO to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

I hate this cartoon. MY Santa is not mean. MY Santa would not make fun of a reindeer with a disability. Let's review some of the "highlights" of this cartoon:
Discrimination
Ostracizing
Exclusion
Bullying
Name-Calling
Isolation
Running away from family/problems
People who use you (Santa wanted no part of Rudolph until he could use Rudolph for his benefit)
Teachers/coaches are nasty. How do we encourage children to "tell a trusted adult" when the adult is the one doing the bullying?
Don't even get me started on the Island of Misfit Toys. Misfits? Anything that is "broken" or "different" is deemed a misfit, sent away from what's "typical." Self-contained classrooms... hmmmmmm.... sorry, slipped into special ed mode. But you can see why.
This is by far the best RTRNR summation that I could ever dream of: "Santa Claus doesn't just drop off presents for kids -- he also encourages the soul-crushing of generation after generation of Christmas-reveling children." Thank you internet for things you find during searches for "Rudolph bullying."
Join me in boycotting Rudolph this year!!! Just say no to discrimination, bullying, and ostracizing. Watch "The Year Without a Santa Claus," the best holiday cartoon there is!!
