Currently, nursing mothers have the right to take breaks for pumping breastmilk at work until their child turns the age of one. Employers are to provide a safe place for new mothers to pump breastmilk that is private, has running water, a refrigerator for the breastmilk, and an outlet.Some nursing mothers face hardships while pumping breast milk at work. Assembly Bill 193 strives to allow nursing mothers to report or file a complaint if they are discriminated against for taking breaks to pump breast milk. As Assembly Bill 193 is still in process, there are various steps you can take to advocate for these nursing mothers!
