This year, the faculty of Metro Early College High School decided to no longer allow juniors and seniors to leave school to go to lunch. This was due to tardiness and students bringing food back to school with them. If juniors and seniors arrived more than 5 minutes late, they should be given an automatic twilight school. No student wants to have a twilight school, so it would motivate them to come back in a timely fashion. After two twilight schools, permissions to leave should be revoked for the semester. Also, this year there are more kids in the building than there has ever been. Many students are forced to sit on the floor and eat because there aren't enough chairs. The microwave lines are terrible and since so many people use them, the microwaves are covered in food residues. Students should get a permission form signed by their parents, an administrator, and their advisor. Upon turning in the form, the student should be given a laminated card that shows that they are eligible to leave. A teacher or administrator could stand at the door and each student should have to present the card in order to be able to leave. Students in a learning center or taking OSU classes are able to go out to lunch and have no restrictions, so students that do not take a learning center or OSU classes should also be allowed to have lunch outside of the Metro campus.
