I have only had the opportunity to work with Greg Miller and the Civic on a few occasions. But those moments have been rather special and I want them to continue.

Former volunteer. Deeply disappointed and confused. Greg IS the Civic Theatre. For my entire 25 years in Rochester, he has been the physical beating heart of the entire organization. Without clear and convincing evidence of serious wrong doing, this decision is a disgrace and the board should be removed.

As a past RCT board member and President, I am appalled that the RCT board would take this action. The position of Artistic Director is an essential position for theatrical organizations. Anyone involved with theatre understands the critical nature of this position and what it brings to the organization. Greg Miller has been an long term outstanding leader and contributor to the organization. Combining these two facts makes this decision all the more disrespectful to the volunteers, members and patrons of RCT.

I lived in Rochester before and after Greg Miller became AD at RCT. I volunteered as a crew member, actor, stage manager, costumer. I served on the play selection committee and made calls for the annual fund, and I taught after school classes at RCT. I subscribed and was a donor. During that time I also served as executive director for the Rochester Area Council for the Arts, and worked for two other local theaters. I've been involved with professional theater for more than 20 years if my adult life, as a costumer, actor, teacher and now as a full time professional fundraiser for Trinity Repertory Company in Rhode Island. Working with Greg Miller was a pleasure and a privilege. Greg is a true man of the theater--a talented actor/director/designer/writer who gives 2000% to everything he does, and treats EVERYONE with respect, kindness and generosity. He deserves better treatment than to be kicked to the curb after 27 years--and from what I've read, the City of Rochester deserves a much better board than the theater currently has. The mayor and others with power should carefully consider how to put the "Civic" back in RCT by restoring Greg Miller as artistic director or AT LEAST providing severance pay and a dignified exit, reinstating membership, setting humane employment termination guidelines...for a start. The board owes the volunteers and audience a voice. This cruel dismissal of a true community servant and theater asset is arrogant and unwise from a fiscal,?artistic and community standpoint.

The incompetence of the RCT Board is disgraceful and an insult to the community, the Civic Theatre, the staff and volunteers. Their actions of taking away voting rights prove that they do not have the theatre's best interest in mind. I have been in many shows and have volunteered back stage and in other areas, but under this corrupt leadership, I can no longer do it. Until change is made on the Board, I withdraw my support and time.

As a former student and volunteer at RCT, it saddens me to see the civic moving away from their mission of volunteer theatre. This is not only about letting go of a stellar director, but all of the recent actions to remove transparency and the voice of the volunteers who make the civic possible.

Volunteer, singer and actor since 1999. Parent of a child involved in the education department. Appalled by current board decisions and call for pressure to be put on ALL current board members to resign. A new board committed to the THEATRE and the COMMUNITY must be put in place.

Having spent countless hours at Rochester Civic Theatre when I lived in Rochester and the great memories and lasting friendships I maintain, it disturbs me greatly to see the recent decision of the RCT board of firing Greg Miller. Their actions and decisions are deplorable. The name changed many years ago from Community Theatre to Civic Theatre. It looks like you have just lost your community again.

I have volunteered at this theater for 13 years and have literally shed blood sweat and tears. Yes, there has been blood even. And most of the volunteers can say the same. This is a sad sad day. Greg Miller needs to be re-hired, given a raise and an apology. This huge community of volunteers needs to have a voice as well. For now I am taking my time and talents elsewhere.

I am saddened and angered at the recent upheaval at the Civic. Decisions being made don't make sense and seen contrary to the mission statement of the organization. The latest decision to fire Greg Miller is the most disturbing. His talent and contributions to the Civic have directly contributed to the success of productions and his warm, welcoming personality encouraged volunteer participation.

I am saddened by recent events, especially the suspect timing. The board canceled a planned production of "Leaving Iowa" and then fired our AD the day after "Heaven Can Wait" closed. This move seems cold and calculated, not only personally towards Staff and volunteers but to the community at large. I do not believe that the interests of the theater are best served by the current board of directors.
