The wife and I sometimes walk into Wimborne but we don't say "shall we walk into Wimborne" .......... we always say " Shall we run the gauntlet" which at 70 years old can be very daunting. You can see the scratches on the bridge where cars and lorries have hit ... one day that will be a person that was hit.

I fairly regularly cross this bridge by foot, cycle and car.
the lack of a separate pedestrian bridge makes this dangerous for all concerned.
this is true throughout the year, but particularly when there are events in the fields on the far side of the bridge when there are many people crossing the bridge on foot.
a similar bridge already exists on poole bridge, although ideally this one could be freestanding...

I walk across this bridge regularly and cross the extremely busy road coming down from Corfe Mullen. Both are an accident waiting to pedestrians and cyclists

Definitely need another bridge/access route to get from Corfe Mullen to Wimborne on foot/cycle. A lovely walk down to Wimborne but you take your life in your hands when crossing on the bridge! Does someone have to die before we get a safer option !

Been enquiring for years to start a petition for a walkway bridge at Julians, let's hope you get enough, well done for starting it, also I am willing to do a paper petion in Wimborne to collect names, i did it for the TIC years ago when they were threatened with closing and we saved them,

A necessary safety need before someone gets seriously hurt. If councils can spend on cycle routes then they should put one on the bridge for pedestrians too.

It would make my child’s walk into town from Corfe Mullen a lot safer if there was a route not over the actual bridge!

Excellent idea. When using the bridge in a car I always think how dangerous it must feel if you were using it as a pedestrian, so scary. It is not very wide so a pedestrian would reduce the road to one lane. In a car you have to give way to large vehicles approaching you before entering. Thank you for this petition. A wonderful plan.

I never walk into Wimborne as it is too scary to cross the bridge. With more emphasis on health and exercise this would encourage more people to perhaps walk into Wimborne.

With the number of events happening in the fields between Julian’s Bridge and the roundabout, a bridge is needed to allow people to walk from town to events safely - including those with buggies, mobility scooters, dogs etc. Walking or cycling over the bridge from Corfe Mullen would be a lot safer and it might encourage more of us to walk rather than clog the town up with cars. Walking over Julian’s Bridge isn’t pleasant because of constantly having to run to the passing places between cars - I wouldn’t consider doing it with children or leading a dog.
