The state legislature finally folded and agreed to launch the investigation into these bogus arrests. We dragged them to this outcome because we refused to let them hide these abuses any longer. Stay sharp because we will be watching their every move to ensure they actually do their jobs.

Since March 2004, 30,000 people in Baltimore City have been arrested but not charged with any crime. Prosecutors at Central Booking routinely review the cases and decline to file criminal charges. After being dehumanized, demoralized, criminally processed, housed in overcrowded holding cells, and unnecessarily disrupted from their families and jobs, the arrestees are routinely released and sent on their way. Due to this sudden increase in unjustified arrests, Baltimore citizens are terrified. We demand that the state legislature and federal agencies investigate this matter thoroughly and bring healing to the community.

The momentum we have built proves the people of Baltimore are finished with this constant harassment. The state legislature can no longer ignore this systemic abuse now that so many of us are demanding accountability.

Ridiculous. Stop wasting taxpayer money on mass arrests when nothing even comes of it. Fix the system.

This been going on way too long. My cousin got picked up for standing on his own porch and spent 2 days in central booking for nothing. City needs to do better.

So tired of being afraid to walk in my own neighborhood. The police scare me more than the criminals sometimes.

30,000?? That number is insane. How are they allowed to just ruin people's lives like this without any accountability?

My son lost his job because he was held for 24 hours and released with no charges. This is not justice.
