Josie is the perfect example of what a linebacker should be! Hard hitting team captain who runs the defense & just flat out outplays everybody on the field! Was so fortunate to have him in Iowa City for 4 years!

If the fact that Jewel missed one game due to injury is being held against him then the criteria for the award needs to be reevaluated. Or just say that playing for an average, not so flashy team is the reason he isn't a finalist. That would be, in my opinion, the only plausible reason for why he was left off.

Josey Jewell missed a game and has almost double the tackles of some of the other finalists. He not only should be a finalist but he should win the award. I saw the email where you mentioned the committee watched football games and it was based on reviewing games and tape. If that is the case I would like for them to watch the Penn State game in completion against a heisman candidate as well as premier quarterback.
