I am asking for an exception from the Butkus Foundation to include Jewell for the Butkus Award his outstanding play. Jewell has more tackles and tackles for loss than any of the other finalists, and that includes a full game missed due to injury for the senior linebacker.

For you to delegitimize a player that represents what you Place as your standard for inclusion is rediculous. Just because he plays for “The” University of Iowa and not Michigan or Ohio State, or insert any other big name program is a shame on the part of this committee and noticed by the common folk who pay attention to the actual plays on the field and the character of those athletes that are up for these awards. Don’t take the easy way out and jus sign off on a brand, look at the individual and assess who they are.
