According to all the requirements of this prestigious award this young man has hit the nail directly on the head and should not only be in the finalists but a pretty heavy favorite for the win.. Sure hoping you have just overlooked him

The award is for the best linebacker in the country, not the best linebacker on one of the best teams in the country.

There is no way to justify Jewell not being on the list for the Butkus award. They mentioned he had been injured, that makes his stats even more amazing. Certainly can't use strength of schedule. It's just ridiculous.

I watch about every college football game for east to west coast, FBS to FCS. And never have I seen a player on either side of the ball play like Josey Jewell. He is at the point on attack on ever play, he plays with a passion and dedication that leave you speechless. I finally got a catch to catch a game this weekend, and wow just wow. What an athlete and leader

I mean, how can he not be on there. Have you watched a full Iowa game? Or even looked at any of his stats. Forget the numbers, leading a top tier defense for years and also being captain of the team. It’s a joke he got left off the list

Josey Jewell Is The Best Linebacker In College Football. Just because Iowa is having bad year and plays in the Big 10 you have left him off. His stats are better than the 5 finalists. Josey deserves this award.

Not the most athletic of the named finalist but has a nose for the ball. Tough, instinctive, and all heart. Like Dick Butkus, they just don't make many like that anymore. Josey is one of them.. Just a damn good football player.
