Mr. Keene is an outstanding teacher and role model. His African-American History Scholar team just won 1st place at the Scholar Bowl at SIU. A first for the high school. He has made other significant contributions to the history program at the high school, including: 1. Leading his students to produce 4 documentaries and 2 backboards on famous historical figures. 2. He lead his students to participate in the CCHS multicultural festival by doing a dance routine and playing the drums. This was a new experience for many of the students, and one that they are not soon to forget. 3. He will sponsor a trip to the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis for his students at the end of the school year. Mr. Keene's passion for teachinig his students and exposing them to new experiences that positively reflect their heritage is an asset for the CCHS faculty body. In addition to his contributions to the history department, as the only African American male teacher, he serves a very important mentoring role to the student body. He is well liked and respected by the students and their parents and this petition respectfully request that his contract for the upcoming school year and beyond is renewed.
