Coming from Texas I was shocked to see the conditions of the school my kids would be attending. Technically, they were suppose to go to Simpson but that school was under renovation. I was very disappointed that my 2nd grader has to enter the main door and walk all the way to the end of the building and still have to go outside under the cold elements to a portable building. Parking is awful...and again having to wait outside in the rain and cold. The least they should provide a overhead area for parents to wait for their children. This school really needs to be conserved as what it is....a museum of what schools looked like in the 50's. recycle it into something for the community to use. I have only been here 5 months but I would love to see a positive change made for the children that attend JES. They deserve a new building as well as the teachers and staff.

Citizens of Bridgeport please sign this petition to show your support of the BOE following the priority list of the CEFP established in 2010. We were told then "Bridgeport will have to wait their turn" and "We will address number 1 (Lumberport Middle) and then work our way down the list"...the waiting is over...it is time for a new Johnson Elementary School!

Johnson Elementary has been #2 on the Harrison County CFP (Comprehensive Facility Plan) for a number of years behind #1 Lumberport Middle. Now that LMS is being built, it is our turn. Our facility is not adequate to meet the needs of our students and staff. I find it inadequate to have physical education classes in the hallways or that students travel outside to the portable modulars to attend class. We take care of what we have and make it look good but it's time for us to take a stand!

How about the safety issues of having kids leave the main building to enter/exit outside classrooms? Makes the kids vulnerable.

I went to this school when I eas little and the only thing that has changed is the office... there is so much that needs done to it its starting to remind me of the lumberport schools
