On July 23, 2009, the life of John Malcolm Brabham III was cut short when his car was struck by a train at a railroad crossing that had no guard arms. John was only 16. No other family in South Carolina should suffer this preventable loss. We demand that the South Carolina Legislature immediately enact John's Law requiring that every railroad crossing in South Carolina no matter where it is located be equipped with working crossing arms. Lights alone are not enough to protect the people we love and it is unacceptable that in 2009 we have not made this necessary move to save lives. Please enact John's Law before another beautiful life is taken from us too soon.
