NFL league leader in touchdown passes 2x, Passing yards 3x, Completions 3x. Completion percentage 2x, Passer rating 1x His career passer rating wasn’t spectacular at 72.3 compared to today's QB's but for his time, that was pretty good — higher than Hall of Famers Bobby Layne, Joe Namath, Bob Waterfield, George Blanda and Terry Bradshaw. Y.A. Tittle was 74.3. Stabler 75.3 Unitas, considered the best quarterback of that era, was just a few points higher at 78.2.

He has the statistics and a terrible defense that really let the team down. I can just imagine Brodie with the Steel Curtain....

John Brodie was a great quarterback and the face of the franchise for many years. As a longtime 49er fan I gladly support his inclusion in the pro football hall of fame.

Love John Brodie. The Niners weren’t a very good team then. What if he QB’d the Steelers or Dolphins. Stats for bad team QB’s are misleading.

Watched John Brodie play many times on Television during his career in San Francisco. He may not be the greatest QB to play the game, but I enjoyed watching him, whether the 40ers Won or Lost.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Brodie play. In fact, the enjoyment of watching him play when I was a kid is the reason I'm a 49er fan today. Back in his day, I feel only Unitas, Tarkenton and possibly Dawson were better. All three of these greats are already in the HOF as well as other that simply weren't as good as John Brodie. If he had won a Super Bowl, he would already be in. I personally think it's an insult to the Hall that Brodie isn't inducted.

He put up All-Pro numbers annually even when his teams were not doing well.

John Brodie is the reason I've been a 49er fan my whole life. Got to see his final game and jersey retirement..

My favorite 49er as kid in early 70's. Met him at USCB training camp. Great player, great guy. HOF career. Long overdue but not too late.

John deserves it. Wish I'm well. See him in the hall of fame
