6.4 EDUCATIONAL RECORDS OF STUDENTS A. Confidentiality - Student Records The Osceola County Public Schools shall maintain educational records on each student for the purpose of planning instructional programs, for guidance of students, for preparation of local, State and Federal reports, and for research. Student records are for the educational benefit of the student, and information recorded and maintained shall be in keeping with the best educational interest of the student. The rules of the School Board of Osceola County shall be consistent with Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Regulation. Rules shall be consistent with the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. The Principal of each school shall be responsible for the control and supervision of Student Records and for the following State Department of Education Regulations and School Board rules related to student records and interpretation of same to the school staff, students, and the community. The Superintendent of Schools or designee shall be responsible for the privacy and security of all pupil or adult student records that are not under the supervision of a school principal.
