Once again, during a high profile match televised around the world and with millions of young kids watching the game, Joey Barton showed what a vile and disgraceful player he really is and that he shouldn't be given the opportunity to be a pro player or be a role model for the younger generation. After he lashed an elbow out @ Carlos Tevez he was given the red card by the referee. Furious with referee Mike Dean for the red card which he deemed unfair, Barton attempted to argue with the official over his decision. When he found himself surrounded by players from both sides, Barton then kicked out at Sergio Aguero, who fell to the ground. Barton then aimed a headbutt at City captain Vincent Kompany as he attempted to intervene in the melee. This isn't the first of Joey Barton's antics either, he has a massive history with regards bad discipline. His career and life have been marked by numerous controversial incidents and disciplinary problems, and he has been convicted twice on charges of violence. On 20 May 2008 he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for common assault and affray during an incident outside a McDonald's restaurant in Liverpool City Centre. Barton served 77 days of this prison term, being released on 28 July 2008. On 1 July 2008 he was also given a four months suspended sentence after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm on former teammate Ousmane Dabo during a training ground dispute, on 1 May 2007. Three days after his release, he was charged with violent conduct by The FA for the assault on Dabo. Enough is enough, Joey Barton does not deserve to be a pro football player and doesn't deserve be in the game @ any level. His Twitter post after the match verifies this !!! Joey stated on Twitter "Still not my proudest moment but who gives a f*ck, we are safe..........and that is all that matters" ALSO "The head was never gone at any stage, once I'd been sent off, one of our players suggested I should try to take 1 of theirs with me". Oh that's really mature Joey. So then ... please take the time to fill in this petition so we don't have to be graced with this thugs presence on a football pitch EVER again.
