Job Killer Bills - Camarillo Chamber
LEGISLATIVE ALERT
The following bills in Sacramento will hurt your ability to control your labor cost. We need you to help us let the State Legislators understand what these changes will do to your business.
AB 67: Double Pay on the Holiday Act of 2015
This bill will make it mandatory to pay 2x the minimum wage if employees work on Thanksgiving or Christmas. If you aren’t open these days it won’t have any impact on your business, but if this is passed will they make it mandatory to pay 2x wages on other work days?
AB 357: Employment: Work hours and scheduling
Do you know if you will get a rush order in? Do you know that someone might cancel and order? The author of this bill wants to make it that schedules must be posted two weeks in advance and can’t be changed or you must compensate the employee for changing their schedule.
SB 3: Minimum wage increase
The minimum wage amount was just raised from $8 to $9 this January 2015. This legislation wants to raise it to $13 per hour, and then index it so that it will go up every year thereafter.
