If a Student violates Standard 5 because, by being conscientious enough to pick up the switchblade that was found on School Property should they be suspended for longer than 10 days Standard 5 states: students may not possess, transmit, or handle firearm, knife, ammunition or other weapon including mace or use of any object in a manner that is capable of causing injury to another person. (My child was standing waiting to see a principal. Only guilty of holding the knife; it was not used in threatening manner.)
