Deserves it for humility, charity work and beating cancer alone, before you even reach his achievements in football

A gentleman of football, commands respect over football divides and does superb work for charities. A quiet modest giant of the game.

He richly deserves the honour for his community and charity work as well as his football history. Genuinely very nice man who I have met on a number of occasions

Possibly the last of the North West one club man living ' greats'. Respectable, honest, trustworthy and a fantastic footballer to boot. An honour for all BFC fans to have him associated with our Club. It will be a proud day when his unofficial knighthood is made official. UTMP

At Blackpool FC Jimmy Armfield is already 'Sir Jimmy' to us and has been for many years. It is time this was made official! There is no-one in football more deserving of this honour. Act now, don't have regrets Jimmy Armfield is no longer with us.

I fully endorse this petition to bestow a Knighthood on Jimmy Armfield for his services to football, broadcasting & his charitable work. More improtantly 'Sir' Jimmy is a thoroughly decent & honourable human being much deserving of this honour.

A superb true ambassador to both club and country. A one club captain, and captain of England who has served 'Football' with humility, loyalty and generosity.

It's about time Jimmy was recognised for all his services, not just football. And more than anything, a true gentleman, very rare these days.

This would be a long overdue award in recognition of great service to football and his country.

many great names have been knighted and one seems to have been continually overlooked. One of the football gentry who has given his life to Football, Broadcasting and the Church. What more does a man have to do?
