I worked with Jim on many projects back in the day and he was not only one of the best drummers on the planet but one of the nicest people I have ever worked with. I noticed changes back then but will leave it up to you on rehabilitation. Would loved to free him.

I am a fan of Steely Dan, and knew of the sad situation of Jim Gordon. He was a true professional, and worked very hard. Alas, I think tiredness, over worked, and drugs, and an existing mental illness problem created the problem. I believe Jim has been in prison, and at time would not take his medication, and to me this is a concern. The amount of time he has been institutionalized, might mean he may need 24hr care if he was released and to lead a life, he would have to be supervised re. medication. This is the reason why I would sign the petition, but does Jim Gordon wish to be released, it has been a long time, would he adapt to the outside parameters.

first of all,...sorry for my bad Egnlish. I´m german and it´s been awhile since I wrote and spoke English fluently on a daily basis.' got a bit rusty but i hope it will do the job.
Jim Gordon,.. yes, one of the best if not THE heaviest groovin' drummer ever waling this earth. If you are into music and especially into drums you sure have heard about him and even if you just listen to the radio while driving down the highway you have heard him play , definitely. Steely Dan, Eric Calpton, Traffic, Derek & The Dominos..you name it. He was one of the few top session drummers back than. O.K., what has this to do with his parole you might think... well, there surely are many peaople how may sign this petition and everyone of them has some thoughts and arguments why he'd be released now. My 2 cents are theese... Since the social forecast seems to be very important when considiring realeasing someone or not,..I for my part are a 100% sure that if Jim Gordon 'd be realesed tomorrow he'd have no problems sicne there are still, even after all theese years so many people who know him and love his great drumming,...he'd have a foot in the door to recording again sonner than you'd think. The love for theis man is surely still there and I´m sure, too that many of his colleges frim back in the day will be there if he steps out into life again. Let him go, please. I worked with Jim @ Olympic studios in London...He was just a wonderful man and I loved his talent and contribution to my musical life. He. Is so well loved globally, I would be so delighted if he was released from incarceration

Please consider the release of James Beck Gordon from the California penal system. At his age, with his condition now diagnosed and treatment implemented, he no longer poses a threat. Mr. Gordon remains a great musician, considered one of the best ever by his peers. We will never know what art he could give us if he remains imprisoned. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, "There are no second acts in American lives." Mr. Gordon's continued imprisonment means he will never have even the chance of a second act in his life. Here is a man who believed he was drawing music out of the drum, a man who wrote and produced music that moves people of all ages even after over fifty years. What accomplishment, what pride is there in saying, "We kept him in prison long after he was no longer a threat"? Please consider Jim Gordon's release. Give him the opportunity to live freely again. Don't let this artist's story end in the prison cell he has lived in for over thirty years. Give him the chance to begin the second act in his life as a man rejoined with society.
