We need to have both colors as option just like in years past. My family’s plan to save some money is to use my brothers from last year which is Blue and if the chosen color is Red we will be forced to pay an extra money towards something not worth paying twice

Clapp and admin can’t preach the rebel family tree but not respect our roots! Haha see what I did there. But seriously we should be able to carry out our traditions, I don’t want to give it up just because it’s not aesthetically pleasing to the admin..

Yes, this should be allowed to be decided by the students as they are the ones wearing it. It makes financial sense for families planning to use previous year students gowns. It also makes sense that it’s the students own personal right to express themselves through what minimal choice is given when there’s already a major expectation as to what graduates must wear at... GRADUATION! The colors red and blue aren’t restricted to gender so there’s no reason everyone shouldn’t be allowed to choose. What does the school system gain by restricting the color choices? Conformity? The ability to be basic and fit in to societal stereotypes and norms? Let them wear the color that they must already pay a ridiculous amount of money for or allow them to use the color choices they already own from previous graduates of JHS.

Not only is this a tradition for the Juanita students, but this is unique in comparsion to so many schools surrounding us. The colors all mixed together is the most beautiful part of the graduation ceremony. Our colors are part of our Alma matter and thus we should be able to represent them. This is the part of graduation that is fun and symbolizes our boldness. If we are singled down to one color, roughly half of that class will still not be satisfied because they wanted the other color. I’m signing to not only represent the fact that I want to be able to chose what color my cap and gown are, but I believe that it is only right to carry on the tradition for future rebels and allow them to continue to choose the color they desire. The claim that “it would look more asethetic and united” is for one, the most ridicolous and unreasonable excuse that I have ever heard.

I’m a future student that’ll go to Juanita and I don’t think anything is wrong with using two colors of the school for graduation cap and gowns. I like it the way it is anyways

There’s nothing wrong with using 2 of the school colors for caps and gowns. Why do we have to make petitions to keep something every year??
