Jeju's foreign community needs the Jeju Weekly

Jeju s foreign community needs a fully professional English newspaper. A newspaper written by native speakers, to avoid the pitfalls of clunky translations; and to deliver accurate, reliable and relevant information across a range of issues- including: travel and leisure, cultural events, the arts, music, transportation (such as English maps and bus schedules), healthcare, financial advice and all other issues relating to life on the island. The Jeju Weekly is a non-profit publication, founded by Song Jung-Hee and Kim Gyong-Ho, professors at Jeju National University. Their vision is to provide a quality publication to all English-speaking foreigners on Jeju, for free. They have met all start-up, production and print costs with their own personal funds but this cannot last forever. If they cannot get funding print production of the paper may have to cease by the end of this year. Over the next two weeks the Jeju Weekly will submit an application for government support to the JPG, hoping that they realise the importance of this publication, especially considering the plans for the Global Education City which will see thousands more English professionals coming to live on Jeju. Please lend us your support, we need you. Thank you, Cat (Managing Editor)
