Jeffco Board Majority: Listen & Involve the Community

Suuport all kids and teachers. As a teacher and a parent I am affraid of what is happening to Jeffco and I don't want Jeffco to become another Douglas County.

My 2nd grader attends Little Elementary in Arvada. We had a really rough 2nd grade year with only 2 classes and 29 children in each class. Bless the 2nd grade teachers and parents for pulling these kids through this year. But they all would have performed better with fewer than 30 kids per class! Can you imagine 30, 7-8 year olds, in one room? Bananas! I did my best to help, volunteering in class 2 or 3 days a week, keeping on top of paperwork, doing math intervention, fluency intervention...etc. Way too much work for just one very dedicated and experienced teacher! To put it into perspective, the same amount (near 60) first graders were split into 3 classes, and had a much calmer learning environment and more opportunities for individual advancement. There is just no way one teacher can provide near 30 young learners with individual attention in the space of a school day. The principal has promised us that next year there will be 3 teachers for 3rd grade...I'll believe it when I see it, because we identified this problem very early in the school year and NOTHING was done to rectify it all year. Our school population seems to grow every year and neighboring Parr Elem. is just as packed. But if her class has another year like this, I'm just pulling her out. Period.

Reform is needed, but not this kind of reform and not implemented in the fashion the Board majority is attempting. We need someone else to accomplish this.

Board Majority, it has be exhausting that the majority of Jeffco Families do not support your continued efforts. Why does it make sense not to listen and act accordingly? This is not why you were elected in to office. Teachers matter, students matter.

Don't ruin Jeffco Schools like Douglas County schools. preserve our good teachers, good eduction and most of all our neighborhood schools!

I come at this as both a JeffCo teacher (Golden HS) and as a parent of two soon-to-be JeffCo students . Ken Witt, John Newkirk and Julie Williams are not people of good will. They are ideologues who have only the interests of their narrow little band of followers in mind.

The Jeffco School Board needs to do their job which is to run the school district effectively and not waste time and money on non-essential tasks.

Keep in mind that the majority of voters DID NOT vote for you. You don't represent me, and you certainly don't represent the children of this district.

Please serve the families in Jeffco by listen to their concerns and then implementing things that will help (not hurt) our children. Also listen to the experts in the field of education who have an understanding of what will help and what will not.

Please listen to the community, there is a lot of need in Jeffco schools right now and our voices demand to be hear.

Thank you for taking a proactive stance.

As a long time Jeffco resident, mom & business owner, I thank those organizing this petition. At the very least the board should listen and engage the community is "serves".

Pay attention Jeffco School Board.

I used to be proud of Jeffco School District, now I'm embarrassed. All because of the current board's decisions and actions. I refuse to vote for any tax increases for the school district until this board is out, or they start abiding by the wishes of their constitutents.

*Wonders* how many of the signitures on the SupportJeffcoKids.org letter, dated May 18, 2015, voted for the "Conservatives" in the last school board election . . . or voted not at all...
