James Watson, Nobel Laureate in Medicine 1962 and Chancellor of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, recently made outrageous comments claiming genetic inferiority of people of African descent. In an interview with UK\'s Sunday Times newspaper on October 17th 2007, the 79-year-old said he was \"inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa\" because \"all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours - whereas all the testing says not really\". He continued to say that he hoped everyone was equal but that \"people who have to deal with black employees find this is not true\". Watson is currently Chancellor of the federally funded Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York. This institute has long been known as a leader in cancer, neuroscience, plant genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics research and describes itself as possessing
