The owners should never have put this immature son of theirs in any management role. He totally lacks the skills to be successful and his epitaph will be that he brought down the family business. He must never be allowed anywhere near the Canoe and Paddle again. I suggest all his racing sponsors drop him and Canadian Mental Health distance themselves from his involvement which has always been about him and not about helping others. I would encourage everyone to offer their sincere support to all those impacted by his atrocious actions. I would also encourage a civil action to be started against this family so that, in some way, those affected may be validated and compensated.

Thank you for having the courage to speak up about this extremely important issue. I am so sorry this happened to all of you.
I am thoroughly disappointed in how Canoe & Paddle has managed this abuse. It is evident they chose to ignore it in the past and they continue to try to sweep it under the rug today. Their actions demonstrate how they are contributing to the problem and allowing the behavior to continue.
I wish you all peace and healing as you navigate this difficult journey. Please know you have a community of support behind you every step of the way.

The documented abuses carried out by Jake are far-reaching and well-referenced. I appreciate that the end goal here is for a contrite apology, and not to close the Canoe & Paddle. I understand the struggle in the restaurant industry: sometimes there is a revered pub managed by a person who simply should not be in charge. Believe me, I know.
My contention is that because you are not receiving a shred of humility from Jake, no ownership of his abuses, that you are dealing with someone who is unstable and should be removed from his post permanently. If that doesn't happen, the Ontario Human Rights Commission is a good avenue.
I stand in solidarity with everyone affected, and with respect to your mission statement you are all certainly on the high road.
But know this: we all miss Hamblin's.

I will not be going to the canoe and paddle until this has been properly resolved. Jake's abuse is now very public, and he should be removed from ANY role at the canoe and paddle.

This is inexcusable behavior and anyone who was not related to the owners that did anything like this would have been fired.

No one should have to deal with any type of harassment in the workplace. I hope these women get justice.

I WILL not support a business that treats thier hard working employees with disrespectful actions. Shame on that family business. Lakefield is a warm welcoming village that loves and cares about all. Lakefield does not need an establishment like that.

He should be fired from his position. Any instance with this kind of harassment has the person responsible let go.

I first met Jake Exton, while attending Dalhousie Universtiy in 2013. In honesty, this entire situation does not surprise me. He has, and always will carry himself with a bravado and arrogance that is hard to tolerate. He doesn't truly respect women, and uses his advocacy for mental health issues for self-promotion and an ego boost. Though I don't believe he is malicious in intent, he is certainly an immature rich-kid who has probably had too many "re-do's thanks to his folks.
