Jaime has been in Oregon over 30 years and worked for Portland Community College in the workforce development with employment and training grants for over 20 years. As a former farmworker and first generation college grad he understands the barriers given to marginal communities. He is a Fresno State graduate, studied law at Willamette University, an Army Veteran and has been recognized for his community service as a PCC Rock Creek Campus's Cesar Chavez Justice Award recipient, and twice AFT-Oregon's Public Awareness Award winner. Most recently was honorable chair for the NABE conference held in Portland in February.

Among achievements as President of AFT-Oregon:

• began his tenure post Janus with only 4 staff he has rehired several postgions to climb back to 9 staff to serve all 27 locals.
• He continues to be budget conscious with a 2.1 million operating budget when began to 3.1 million in operating.general funds reserves
• He has brought back local 111 Portland Federation of School Professional back to AFT-Oregon after a four hiatus.
• He has gone from 24 locals to 27 and he continues his vision to get to 30 locals and 30 K members.
