A year ago I was on the Fraser Island trip, we were all living the dream having the best time of our lives driving the 4x4 across the sand with no worries in the world. Looking back now it was stupid and dangerous. I had been in Australia 6months and had not driven at all in my time out there. I can't believe I got in the drivers seat of the vehicle and 7 other people who didn't even know me trusted me to keep them safe just like I did when it was all of their turn. One girl in our group was French, she had only been driving a year and obviously was used to driving the other side of the car/road (as of most other countries such as Germany) we all joked around with her saying about her bad driving as she struggled to even change gear. We had an incident where we got stuck in the sand, the tide came up towards us, dingos were lurking around outside the vehicle. We all panicked, didn't know what to do everyone overtook us laughing we were going no where. Luckily having walkie talkies our leader came back for us and with a lot of ppl helping to push the vehicle we were soon driving along the sand again. We all had never driven 4x4s before, never driven on the sand and most ppl had never driven a right hand drive. This is so wrong, especially with the pressure of keeping up at a fast pace with the rest of your group. The amount of ppl that pass their driving test, go to uni, travel (without driving or owning a car within that time) and yeah their license states they passed their test 5 years ago but how much driving experience do they really have? Zero!
When I found out what happened to Grace my heart stopped. I can't imagine the pain herself, friends and Jades family have had to go through and will always have to suffer with Jades terrible loss. I would not want to see this happen to anyone else and I can't believe these trips are still going on.
I am now seeing awful pictures where 4x4s have flipped regularly on Fraser Island.
Please everyone keep signing

I was in the same group as Jade, luckily sitting in one of the other cars. But being so close to this tragedy made me realize in what kind of danger young people put themselves without even knowing. It could happen to all of us and I feel so sorry for Jade and all the other people who ever lost their life because of recklessness. I hope that we can change something so that no more people get killed or injured!
