Such a waste.

Only a week earlier I was in the same car as Jade. 3rd gear did not work properly and another car in the fleet had a jammed seatbelt. I really do not think this company took the due care needed to properly prepare people to drive in the dangerous circumstances. These are dangerous conditions on Fraser Island and even experienced 4 wheel drivers find these conditions difficult. Inexperienced drivers on Fraser Island pose a threat not only to themselves, but other more experienced drivers on these challenging tracks. A Coroner's Inquest must be demanded in Australia so that innocent lives are not lost. Vehicles must have no problems whatsoever so that already challenging driving conditions are not made more challenging by mechanical defects such as 3rd gear grinding and slipping out. It shouldn't take death for people to act in the best interest of the public. I am so sorry for your loss. Nothing can replace Jade, but she would be proud knowing that you are fighting to protect other innocent lives.

Having done one of these tours a few years ago I ended up being one of the drivers and personally felt nervous and out of my depth driving in this terrain. We had no training or supervision and were expected to drive through rain, mud and up/down steep sharp hills. Not only were we in charge of our own lives but also everyone else within the vehicle and for a 21 year old with no experience driving a 4x4 this was a lot of responsibility and could have ended so differently for any of us on that tour. I feel so sorry for Jade's family as this accident could have been prevented by the correct measures being put in place.

as a parent with children at uni that are planning this sort of activity I feel that any adiditional safeguards to their safety and wellbeing should be embraced with open arms
